What Does It Take To Become An Ideal Tanner Menzies Licensee?

During the last twelve months, the Tanner Menzies Licensee team have had discussions with a significant number of potential candidates for the role of Licensee, focusing on whether the opportunity is right for them.

We have mutually decided in some cases, with several very accomplished professionals, that it isn’t right at this time for them. While others who have had the background, skill set, and vision, have come on board and successfully commenced on their journey to company ownership.

It is an extremely important selection process that enables the considered choice of Licensee’s to come on board and develop their careers with us. Our success can only be measured in terms of the success of our Licensees, and we work closely together toward achieving mutually agreed objectives at a personal and professional level.

We have been asked to describe what attributes do enable or identify an ideal person to become a Licensee. The bottom line is a Licensee does own and run their business in their area of expertise either segment, geographic or discipline-related, so applicable knowledge is important. Although training, development, and mentoring is provided by our experienced team, previous relevant commercial experience is important.

It is your business, so you need to be entrepreneurial and proud of what you are achieving over time. A passion for what you do will have to be evident in your career to this point. There are significant rewards to be made but often the climb to the top can be challenging, you need resilience and determination but also the ability to celebrate is important.

You need to be able to work autonomously, as is often the case in recruiting, but a collaborative team approach is also inherent amongst our Licensee team to share experience and problem-solving. Everyone benefits from each others’ success and the competition is for the best possible result across the business. If you like, the sum of the whole is our primary measure of success! This of course doesn’t mean you can be the top performing business in the group, but you are not competing with anyone internally in your chosen area of specialization.

Further to the more quantitative attributes is a personal desire to own your business, to plan and manage your work practices which includes complete flexibility around work-life balance, and a desire to earn more of the commercial pie. You need to be a risk taker who is respectful, humble, and enjoys working with people.

If this sounds like you, we should talk.
